Every year a photo competition called the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is held. This competition is geared towards wildlife photographers, and amateur photographers who happen to snap a funny photo of an animal while off on a hike or out camping. The key to winning the competition is to produce a high quality photo combined with an animal doing something totally hilarious. Prepare to roll on the floor with laughter, when you lay your eyes on these.

On Bear-y Important Business
Bears are very inquisitive creatures, that love wandering into campsites and scrounging around for food. The popular kids cartoon, Yogi the Bear showed the world that bears cannot resist checking out a vehicle or a picnic table. In true bear fashion, these little cubs decided to come and check out a parked truck.
Maybe there is some delicious honey hiding in those wheel wells. They definitely know they are up to no good, because the one bear is staring straight into the camera with an, “Oh no, I’ve been caught bear-handed” look. It might be time for them to move on.
Ruffled Feathers
Not everyday can be a good feather day. Even birds roll out of the nest with their feathers all over the place. This bird looks like its nest might have been in a major windstorm judging by how floofy the feathers are. Some of them are standing straight out of their head. Its expression is pretty nonchalant as it casually walks through the water in search of breakfast.
Clearly, in the animal kingdom bad feather days don’t exist, and nobody is going to make fun of it for looking slightly electrified. If this was a human, they might have needed to tame that mane.
Just Perchin’
Raccoons are wily creatures that have the ability to open doors, window latches, chicken coops, and whatever else they can lay their paws on. That’s why they are considered to be naughty little guys in big cities. This raccoon was caught by a photographer, simply perched in a tree, with the attitude of a cool kid.
He doesn’t seem to care what is happening around him, as he is the coolest raccoon in the forest. We have to admit, he does look pretty slick. If this was the real world, he would be like John Travola as Danny in Grease.
Keep On Smiling
Unlike the sea turtle, this fish decided to swim right into a diver’s line of vision, and offer a big ole grin. If there was an award for happiest fish, it would go to this rainbow colored one. Normally, you see dogs and cats making this expression, not fish.
If Disney decided to make another Finding Nemo, then this little guy should be the inspiration for one of the new characters. He’s sure to make everyone smile right along with him.
Waving Hello
Unless you’re watching a kids movie, bears tend to be pretty scary. For example, the bear in the Leonardo DiCaprio film The Revenant was downright terrifying. This bear seems like it is trying to make up for all of the scary movies and television shows, by waving a nice ‘Hello’ at the photographer who caught him fishing in the river.
If we didn’t know better, we’d think this bear wants a human to come and fish with him. Bears are meant to be watched from afar, because they are still wild creatures.
Beware The Lion Cub
Disney’s The Lion King made lion cubs universally loved because of how adorable Simba and Nala were. Now, we get to see the real life Simba and Nala as they frolic on the plains of Africa.
The unaware cub is going to have to be careful though, its sibling is about to pounce on top of it, and they are going to experience some paws of fury. We’re sure these two cubs came to a peaceful understanding after playing for a while.
Spotting The Perfect Nut
Everyone loves to feel a sense of excitement over something, whether it’s a new television show or simply some delicious food. This little squirrel saw something in the distance, which made his entire body light up.
If we had to guess, he probably saw a giant pile of freshly fallen acorns that are ripe for the picking. His stash of nuts for the winter is going to be a good one, if he manages to snag all of them.
Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?
Puffins are known for uniquely colored eyes and beaks, which makes them instantly recognizable. These two fellows appear to have gone on a fishing trip together, but one friend caught a lot more fish than the other.
Just like Oliver Twist said in the Charles Dickens novel, this puffin appears to be saying, “Please sir, can I have some more?” to his friend. We hope he decided to throw him a couple of fish to enjoy.
Tails For Two
As soon as animals see humans, they tend to run in the opposite direction. That’s because humans represent an unknown threat. Luckily for this photographer, they managed to come up behind a mama elephant, and her baby.
The two were sharing a tender moment, with their tails entwined together. This must be the equivalent of an elephant hug. It’s nice to see that kind of affection in the animal kingdom.
Keep The Secret
Not everything is meant to be shared, and this bird seems like it’s trying to let another bird know that they need to keep quiet. Maybe there is a nest closeby, or there is a particularly tasty mouse in the area.
In any case, this bird has put its wing to its beak and wants everyone to stay quiet. Something is about to happen, and it’s probably going to be dinner. Hopefully the photographer listened to the bird’s warning.
Be Cool
Humans tend to act cool when they want someone to like them. You don’t want to be too obvious, as you want the other person to be attracted to your coolness. In the animal world, that aura of coolness seems to exist as well.
This bird didn’t care that a camera was trained on him. In fact, it even looks like he decided to pose for his close up. There he is, just casually check out his wingtip, like he doesn’t have a care in the world.
Feeling Ecstatic
Seals are very interesting mammals. They have the ability to hold their breath underwater for up to 2 hours underwater, and they can also hang out on shore until they get hungry. This little guy was lounging on its favorite rock, when it got a bit of very good news.
Maybe there is a school of fish that it is about to devour. In any event, this guy showed off how elated he was at the prospect of enjoying something.
Watch Your Back
If this was a movie, something very bad would be about to happen. In the animal kingdom, this is probably just a bird about to dive for a fish, and the bird behind him is about to take flight. The wings of the bird make it look like it is about to engulf the one in front.
This is truly the perfect photo, as those wings probably moved a second later, which would have made this photo impossible.
Yummy Ears
Hippos are adorable. They always have that gooey looking skin, from sitting in rivers and lakes. Also, their tiny Shrek-like ears, and little noses make them look like you could cuddle with them. In reality, hippos are one of the most dangerous animals on the planet.
Hippos tend to get angry, and charge people and other hippos which leads to massive brawls. This hippo is just about to start a fight.
The Monkey Bicycle Club
In countries like Indonesia, monkeys tend to hang out wherever the tourists are. Everyone loves to snap pictures with them, and feed them little tidbits. These monkeys look like they rolled up on their bicycles, and are ready to start posing for pictures.
If you want a good picture though, you will have to give them only the best slices of fruit. They definitely don’t look like the kind of monkeys you want to meet in a dark alley.
Friends For Life
Everyone needs that one friend that is always up for a good time. These two seals are clearly the best of friends, and are ready to enjoy horsing around in the water. The one on the left looks like he just asked his friend to play, and he’s smiling like he’s about to sneakily attack him.
This is the kind of friendship everyone needs, human and animal. It must have been pretty funny when these two dove into the water to get started.
Caught In The Act
These bears look like they’re enjoying the bear version of the Miley Cyrus song, “Party in the USA,” if it existed. The lyrics would go something like, “So, I put my paws up, they’re playing my song…”
These two are incredibly cute, and definitely don’t inspire the fear they are supposed to. Mama bear must be off to the side, because bear cubs are not usually left unattended. Always be careful approaching them, if you see them.
Camouflage
A lot of insects have a natural camouflage that has evolved over time. This is to protect them from predators like birds, that might decide to chow down on them. A photographer noticed this damselfly perched on a wheat stalk and knew that they had to capture it’s image.
Those eyes can close, and as soon as they do nobody will be able to see the damselfly. This is a very rare moment that was caught on camera.
The Thinking Gorilla
Gorillas are one of the most endangered species in the world. Most of them are found in the small African country of Uganda.
They live in the mountains, and lead very gentle lives. One wildlife photographer came across this male gorilla who had posed himself like Rodin’s sculpture, the “Thinking Man.” It was a perfect moment to showcase how close gorillas are to humans, in terms of body posture and facial expression.
In Hiding
Bears are massive mammals that have the ability to eat all summer, and sleep all winter. This is known as hibernation. A large grizzly bear was seen hiding behind a thin tree, when this photographer decided to snap a quick picture.
It looks like the bear is trying to keep a low profile, but its voluptuous summer body is sticking out on either side of the tree. It’s pretty funny to see, because that bear is definitely not hidden.
The Irony
The last time we checked, animals, especially birds cannot read. This little blue bird decided to go fishing one morning, and was lucky enough to catch some breakfast.
The only problem was that it decided to flaunt its freshly caught fish right on top of a sign that says, “No fishing.” Clearly, the sign only applies to humans, and not animals.
Going For A Swing
When life gives you tails, you go for a swing. Or at least that is what this little monkey thought when it saw its family members perched in a tree.
The swinging monkey seems to be having a great time, but its family looks less than enthused to have their tails pulled on. We bet they quickly flicked their tails out of this little guy’s grasp.
Feeling Dramatic
Even in the animal kingdom, dramatic things can happen. This little chipmunk looks like it is preparing for the role of a lifetime, and needs to perfect its shocked expression. Perhaps there is an animal world version of a great Shakespearean play.
We don’t know that animals don’t put on their own productions. Imagine seeing a chipmunk play, how cute would that be?
Time To Get Cleaned
Otters love to frolic in the ocean and in lakes with other otters. Sometimes they even pop up on boats, and hang out with humans. This little otter looks like it was just about to go play, when its mom decided it was time for a cleaning.
No kid, or teen otter wants to stay at home with its mom, when it would rather be out playing. It’s expression looks like it is very embarrassed.
Stuck On You
A lot of animals with whiskers, like raccoons think that if their whiskers fit in a space, their body will fit as well. This raccoon found out the hard way, that while its head fits in a whole in a tree, it’s body does not.
A hiker found a raccoon with its legs and tail dangling out, and could not help but take a photo. We really hope they helped this little gut out of this rather sticky situation.
Learning To Walk
Just like human babies, baby animals need to get used to walking. Some animals are able to walk as soon as they are born like the elephant, but it does still take a few months for them to get good at it.
This little elephant was trying to follow its mom to a watering hole, when it found itself going head over tail. A photographer happened to snap a picture, right as the elephant went trunk first into the ground.
It’s Getting Hot In Here
Natural hot springs occur all over the planet. The air bubbles up, and creates a natural pool of hot water that both humans and animals like to chill out in. Getting into the water can be a bit hard at first, as it tends to scald the body.
This monkey had to adjust to the water temperature, before he could sit back and relax, just as a human would. His facial expression is exactly the same as a humans. First it’s uncomfortable, and then it feels incredible.
One Of These Is Not Like The Other
Penguins are adorable flightless birds, which range in size from a couple of feet, all the way up to 4 or 5 feet. A group of penguins on land is called a waddle, which is pretty apt considering they waddle around around together.
This waddle was busy heading to the ocean, where they are then known as a raft. One penguin though, is away from the others and appears to be having a bit of a bad time, just like some friends when they have a little bit too much fun at a party. We hope it felt better and made it into the water.
Don’t Mess With The Turtle
Turtles are beautiful creatures, and sea turtles are some of the coolest on the planet. They have the ability to swim great distances, and come up on shore when they need to lay eggs.
However, this turtle has some serious attitude judging by his face, and the flipper gesture he’s making. A diver must have happened upon this little guy, who did not want his photo taken. The photographer clearly forgot to say, “Smile for the camera.”
Friend Or Food?
Foxes are predators, and they are also carnivores. They enjoy snacking on rodents like mice that they come across while hunting. It’s pretty unusual to see a fox pause to stare down at a mouse like this one is.
It’s almost like watching a live action Disney movie. The word is still out on whether or not the fox at this little critter though.
